The 2025 British Indoor Karting Championship (BIKC) has officially completed its qualifying stage, marking another incredible year for the world’s largest indoor motorsport competition.

4969 drivers took part in this year’s qualifying

Together, competitors set an incredible 14,308 qualifying laps across the UK

BIKC continues to grow as the most accessible entry point into motorsport, opening the door for drivers from 8 years and up

Female participation reached a new milestone this year, with 169 women and girls competing in qualifying – up 225% from 2024.

Female qualifiers make up 6.13% of the total number of drivers this year

The Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy has played a significant role in encouraging and supporting female talent entering BIKC

Drivers battled across the Cadet (8-12 years), Junior (13-15 years), Lightweight (weighing under 70kg), Middleweight (weighing no less than 70kg) and Heavyweight (weighing no less than 85kg) categories, with each category performing well;

With qualifying complete, the championship now moves into the next stage: Local and Regional Finals, before culminating in the National Final on the 15th and 16th November 2025 at TeamSport Warrington, where the UK’s best indoor karters will battle for the BIKC 2025 title.

TEAMSPORT and EXCELR8 ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL PARTNERSHIP

EXCELR8, which runs the Team VERTU programme in the BTCC and operates cars in the Vertu MINI CHALLENGE, has previously had indirect ties to TeamSport through a shared relationship with BIZ Karts, one of the world’s leading go-kart manufacturers. 

This new official partnership between TeamSport and EXCELR8 builds on that foundation and marks the beginning of a more direct collaboration, with both parties working closely together throughout the remainder of the 2025 season, which resumes at Croft in North Yorkshire next month. 

Aligning with a front-running team like EXCELR8 presents an exciting opportunity for TeamSport to grow its presence within the motorsport community and beyond. With a brand-new venue opening in Brent Cross later this year, TeamSport will expand to 38 UK locations and six more across Europe – further cementing its position as the leader in indoor karting. 

The partnership will allow TeamSport to engage directly with a passionate fanbase that shares its love for speed, racing, and on-track competition, while also working collaboratively with EXCELR8 to bring the thrill of the BTCC to a wider audience.

Charlotte Tilbury, the award-winning global luxury makeup, skincare and fragrance brand, Motorsport UK & TeamSport Karting are delighted to announce a groundbreaking initiative to empower the next generation of young female motorsport competitors.

Through the recently launched Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy, a programme that provides 8-12-year-old girls with the opportunity to learn and progress through Motorsport UK’s talent pathway, Charlotte Tilbury will provide free funded karting sessions at TeamSport Karting venues and launch the Charlotte Tilbury Scholarship.

The announcement was made as part of Charlotte Tilbury’s commitment and partnership with F1 ACADEMY, aligning with their mission to support female drivers in progressing to the highest levels of motorsport competition. 

To celebrate the partnership, 100% of sales of Charlotte’s award-winning Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray 100ml made on International Women’s Day (8 March 2025) will help fund free karting sessions through Motorsport UK’s Girls Karting Academy, enabling them to experience racing and discover the next generation of formidable female drivers.

The Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy Taster Sessions funded by Charlotte Tilbury will be at ten TeamSport venues in April, including Bristol, Crawley, Cambuslang, Coventry, Leeds, Manchester Trafford, Mitcham, Newcastle, Nottingham and Southampton.

Through the Girls Karting Academy, the beauty brand will also fund a new initiative, the Charlotte Tilbury Scholarship, which will cover the cost of entry to a full Club100 Karting Championship season in 2026 plus additional testing and coaching through the Motorsport UK Girls Karting Academy. These initiatives will identify future talent by breaking down the barriers to entry - and ultimately boost female participation in national and international karting championships.

In collaboration with TeamSport Karting, the UK’s leading indoor karting operator with 37 tracks nationwide, the Girls Karting Academy provides 8-12-year-old girls with the opportunity to learn and progress through Motorsport UK’s talent pathway, under its renowned Academy programme that created 19 champions in 2024 alone.

Throughout 2025, ten TeamSport venues will host introductory days during school holidays where girls will have the opportunity to enjoy karting and fun off-track activities to learn and experience the sport. These Girls Karting Academy sessions will enable girls to test themselves in TeamSport’s arrive and drive karts, offering them a progressive step into the sport. Participants will take part in fun activities, designed by Motorsport UK’s Academy coaches and experts in sports science. The sessions will be delivered by TeamSport Chief Inspectors that are all Motorsport UK qualified, as they test the girls’ competency and skill levels both on and off the track. 

Girls who demonstrate the right mindset and talent at the introductory days will subsequently be invited to take part in a more in-depth development programme, starting with five sessions over five consecutive weeks at the above TeamSport locations. Under Motorsport UK’s guidance, the sessions will nurture their talent and equip them with the skills and techniques needed to compete in junior levels of karting.

Motorsport UK launches Girls Karting Academy

Motorsport UK has launched its Girls Karting Academy, a national programme to support and develop the next generation of young female karters.

In collaboration with TeamSport, a nationwide indoor karting operator with 37 tracks nationwide, the Girls Karting Academy will provide 8-12-year-old girls with the opportunity to learn and progress through Motorsport UK’s talent pathway, under its renowned Academy programme that created 19 champions in 2024 alone.

Throughout 2025, ten TeamSport venues will host introductory days during school holidays where girls will have the opportunity to enjoy karting and fun off-track activities to learn and experience the sport. These Girls Karting Academy sessions will enable girls to test themselves in TeamSport’s arrive and drive karts, offering them a progressive step into the sport. Participants will take part in fun activities, designed by Motorsport UK’s Academy coaches and experts in sports science. The sessions will be delivered by TeamSport Chief Instructors that are all Motorsport UK qualified, as they test the girls’ competency and skill levels both on and off the track.

Girls who set a qualifying time (June to August) at any of TeamSport’s nationwide venues will have an opportunity to progress through to Local, Regional and National Finals with a prize of a fully-funded place in the Club100 Karting Championship on offer.
