RELEASE YOUR INNER CHILD AND CHALLENGE THE FAMILY
A firm family favourite, this event type pits older sibling against parents, younger siblings and even friends in a bid to find out who is the fastest in the family! Depending on how big your troop is you will either have exclusive use of the track or will have the chance to compete against other family groups too for that top spot on the leader-board.
Who can kart?
Any member of the family over the age of 8 years old! Our Cadet Karts are designed for children aged between 8 and 12 years old, as long as they have an inside leg measurement of at least 25 inches with measurements taken from heel to crotch with shoes on. Our Adult karts are a little more powerful so all drivers will need to be at least 13 years old with an inside leg measurement of at least 29 inches so that they can comfortably reach the pedals and be able to control the kart safely.
What is the format?
After registering at reception, you will have some time to climb into your race suits before meeting up with a member of the crew who will get you set up and briefed fully, not only with the safety briefing but also some top tips to help you round the track so you’ll need to listen carefully! If it is your first time karting or one of your group is feeling a bit nervous this is the perfect time to mention it so that any extra questions can be asked and answered. Once everyone is happy with what they need to do and what they can’t do it is time to go track side! Grab a pair of gloves, a helmet that fits and once the race staff are happy your helmet is secured safely you will be shown to your kart. Everyday Race Sessions are great because it’s your lap times that count, not your overall position on the track so don’t worry about being over taken, just worry about getting that little bit faster every lap. Before you know it a member of race staff will wave the chequered flag and everyone will make their way back to the pits. Before leaving the trackside area don’t forget to drop off your helmet and gloves and take the time to relax, watch the next group having their go or read through your personalised electronically-timed, lap time print-outs, compare with the rest of your family and ask for improvement tips before it is time to get back out on track for your next session. You’ll get a lap time print-out for each session you race so keep them all to see if your times improve over the time you spend with us – did you manage to set yourself a personal best? Before you go don’t forget to snap some photos of the victors on the podium and if you have pre-ordered food you’ll find it waiting for you in the Fuel Bar.
What is included?
- Hire of professional racewear and helmet
- Full safety briefing
- Up to 30 minutes on the track
- Tips and advice from ScotKart staff
- Personalised electronically-timed, lap time print-outs
How long’s the experience?
At all our locations this format is made up of 2x 12 minute sessions but to make sure you have time to get suited up, fully briefed and get your full track time allowance we do always say to allow between 90 minutes and two hours from arrival for this event type, a little longer for larger groups.
Did you know? All our venues have a Fuel Bar / Café which specialises in pizza so whether you want to fuel the family before or after your time out on track we have plenty of catering options available.
How much will it cost?
Prices for 2x 12 minute sessions are from £24pp!
Check out the track listing at the end of this page to find the prices for your preferred track.
Please note that due to customer feedback regarding comfort and hygiene reasons there is an additional balaclava purchase cost of £2pp.
