The Hamilton's Race at Tower Bridge

Nic Hamilton celebrates his birthday at Tower Bridge

2012-05-08

Last month Nic Hamilton and his family came to TeamSport Tower Bridge for his birthday. Those in attendance were his Father, Anthony Hamilton, Mother, Linda Hamilton, girlfriend, Mel Grevatt and his friends Miles Wrightman, Oliver Wickens and Ollie Tebbutt whom all enjoyed seven sessions in total. The evening began with Nic setting the pace in the first session with a best lap time of 49.873 and Miles coming in closely behind at a 49.884; a mere difference of 0.011s! Could it have got any closer? Keeping their energy levels up by indulging in plenty of pizza's and hotdogs, the second session saw Nic fastest again with a 49.848 with Miles just 0.006s behind this time! Mel did the women proud by not allowing an inch to the boys as most of them found themselves in the barrier trying to pass her! At one point there was some immensely defensive Father/Son racing between Nic and Anthony which had everyone in hysterics, with the rest of the drivers struggling to find a way past him. As the circuit evolved and everyone shared driving advice, the lap times came down. At the final session, Miles used Nic’s advice to his advantage to improve upon his sector one time and go fastest overall with a 48.383 - Nic was just 0.183s away! The pair were inseparable trading positions almost every lap. Oliver and Ollie had a battle of their own with barely anything separating their best lap times; posting 49.846 and 49.896, respectively. The visit to TeamSport also gave Nic the chance to get in some extra practice for his second season of the Air Asia Renault UK Clio Cup, which kicked off at the end of March. The 19-year-old is racing with Total Control Racing (TCR) and said:

The main aim for me this year is to continue to develop my race craft, using the knowledge and understanding I gained last year as a strong base. I’m still a novice relative to the other guys on the grid, as this is only my second season of racing, but that won’t stop me from pushing as hard as possible to be competitive. It would be great to reach being a regular top 10.

Overall, everyone had a fantastic night with TeamSport staff on excellent form too. Linda did a great job of playing safety car throughout the night and made sure everyone behaved themselves! Good luck Nic from all at TeamSport!
