EKL 5th Round & Championship Win!
Andy O’Neill and Damian Hickman then raced the second and third stints. Owen “Harlem” Jenman set off then for the final stint of the race and, when everyone had done their required pit stops; we were in the lead by just over a lap thanks to a great strategy. Usually most teams in this situation would slow down and control the race, but in typical Harlem Globetrotters style he set the fastest lap of the race and cruised to a comfortable victory for the Titan’s. With another successful round and brilliant drives from all four drivers as we expected, the Titan’s took their fifth win of the series.
Final Round
Sunny Skies and chilly conditions welcomed the final round of the championship. After a shaky start the morning sprint races started, where the Titan’s came back and showed why they are leading the series with one win and consistent top five finishes. Notable drives were Andy O’Neill as he started in 22nd position, and with an inspired drive saw him finish in a magnificent 2nd place after the ten laps. Also Damian, where after a first corner incident put him in last place, but with tremendous effort he finished within the top ten. The last event of the day was the two hour endurance race, which was to be held on the international circuit. Jack started the race. Andy then took over for the second stint. Andy was able to get to the front of the pack and pull a slight margin over them until the next stop where Owen then took over. Owen missed the fuel bay and did the final stop without taking fuel, which meant we had to make an extra pit stop. With Damian taking over and pulling out of the pits. Even with that extra pit stop the Titan’s managed to come out in 2nd only five seconds behind the leaders. They were crowned the overall winners of the day once again which meant that the Teamsport Titan’s had won all six rounds and thus were the Elite Karting League Champions!
