Collingwood College in Camberley - Rising Stars
A talented young group of students at Collingwood College in Camberley have designed and built a Formula 24 race car competing in the Greenpower Challenge.
The 11 manned team are called ‘Status Racing’ and during the last half-term achieved a huge amount including building a new gear box on their Mark 1 car and an entire chassis for their Mark 2!
Some of you may remember this similar blog post covering The St Edward’s School Cheltenham in the same Greenpower Challenge, but in the Goblins category.
Status Racing in their last race, the Central South Regional Heat were performing well, reaching 15th from a starting position of 43 (of 48). They held this until a major electronic failure, took them out of the race for an hour and a half (of a 4 hour race). Once fixed, the team returned to the race and clawed their way back up to 35th and topped 32 mph in the process!
We wish them the best of luck for their next race at the Surrey School Games Motorsport at Dunsfold Park on the 25th June. In the meantime you can check out their Facebook page.
