Speed Limits? What Speed Limits?

Speed Limits? What Speed Limits?

29 August 2018

We’ve all seen someone on the roads that loves to step on the gas. Whether it’s because they’re in a hurry, want to show off to their friends or just like to take advantage of an empty road, it’s fair to say that many Brits take speed limits with a pinch of salt. This had us wondering (and worrying), just how fast are we really driving?

A recent Freedom of Information request submitted by TeamSport discovered the makes, models and speed limits of the craziest drivers across the nation. Here are the fastest speeds recorded in the UK, from January 2017 to May 2018:

  • Nissan GT-R travelling at 167 mph (Gloucestershire)
  • Lamborghini Huracan travelling at 160 mph (West Yorkshire)
  • BMW 330D travelling at 152 mph (Kent)
  • Audi Quattro travelling at 149 mph (Lincolnshire)
  • Mercedes Benz AMG travelling at 148 mph (Merseyside)
  • BMW S1000RR travelling at 144 mph (Dyfed-Powys)
  • BMW 330D travelling at 144 mph (Gwent)
  • BMW 330D travelling at 141 mph (North Wales)
  • Audi A7 travelling at 140mph (Leicester)
  • Audi A6 travelling at 140mph (Cambridge and Peterborough)

These stats are certainly shocking considering they’re on the roads - here on our tracks, you’ll be encouraged to safely reach the fastest speed possible as you whizz around awesome routes - so why not save the thrill-seeking for the track and avoid the risk of a speeding ticket, or worse?

Dominic Gaynor, managing director of TeamSport Indoor Karting said: “The data we have collated is astounding; it seems some motorists in the UK are driving fast and completely ignoring the limits put in place. The speeds recorded are extremely dangerous and drivers really need to think before they take to the wheel; their own safety and that of others is paramount on the roads.

“We offer the perfect place in which to enjoy fast driving. Karters can take to one of our 26 tracks throughout the UK, experience adrenaline pumping speeds in a purpose-built, safe environment, and know that a speeding ticket won’t be landing on their doorstep afterwards.”

TeamSport has 26 tracks across the country, and with three more currently in the pipeline, it's the perfect place to let out your inner racer and become Lewis Hamilton for the day without the backlash of a fine.

There’s also Cadet Academy, a structured programme for 8-16 year olds, that teaches kids how to gain awesome skills on the track in a fun and safe way. But don’t just leave it to the young ‘uns, TeamSport karting is fun for pretty much anyone who wants to break free from the rules of the road and challenge their mates to a race!

Getting on our race track is the best way to satisfy your need for speed with the UK’s #1 for indoor go karting. Don’t believe us? Check it out for yourself here.
