New York F1 Back On Again? Monticello Motor Club Possible Venue?

After Mayor of Manhattan Quashed Previous Attempt

23 May 2010

A couple of weeks ago there were ideas to build a new F1 circuit in New Jersey overlooking Manhattan. However after a lot of moaning from the local residents the Mayor ruled out the idea as unfeasible. Have no fears; for a new plan has emerged to stage the race at the Monticello Motor Club instead, a 4.1 mile 22 corner circuit. Ari Strauss the president of the club has already met with Bernie Ecclestone to discuss the viability and there is talk of a 10 year deal. F1 track architect Hermann Tilke has got involved and thinks with minor track amends and a bit of upgrading of the facilities the track is an excellent venue to host Formula 1. You can tell Bernie is really trying to make this New York plan work, America is very much on his list to crack before he steps back from the sport, and time must be running out for that to happen considering he is 80 this year! > There is no Formula 1 this weekend so feel free to pop down to your local Team Sport and get your laps in on the karting circuit.
