Red Bull recently invited A-list actor Tom Cruise to try out one of their Formula One cars in an exclusive test in Southern California with David Coulthard serving as his personal instructor for the day (and naturally a 12-person entourage, flown in from Milton Keynes) We all remember his appearance on TopGear, so it's no surprise that the star managed to pick it up so quickly. He completed 24 laps during the 7 hour session and even managed to impress David Coulthard!
Tom's the real real. His recall was incredible considering how complicated driving an F1 car is. He's a guy who really pushes the envelope in real life. This day was not green screened. He thoroughly impressed me.
Cruise who has a real passion for motorsport, has driven various racing cars over the years but this was his first time in a Formula One car. Reaching speeds of 181 mph, he resulted in completing just 4 mph off Coulthards top speed. Could we now see a new contender for next year's Grand Prix in Austin, Texas?
