This Easter holiday was spent soaking up the atmosphere and watching four incredible days of great racing, my ears have just about recovered
from what was a very loud 2011 Easter Thunderball at Santa Pod Raceway, home of European Drag Racing. I was fortunate enough to watch a Pro Fuel shootout involving a group of Nitro Cars battle it out along the strip, I have to say this is always a spectacular event to see, and it didn't disappoint. There's something about watching a 7,000 horsepower car hit 200mph in seconds, that is enough to send shivers down your spine. Now if your thinking this weekend is only for petrol heads, you would very much be mistaken. It is equally aimed at families with plenty of entertainment to keep everybody occupied throughout the weekend. This Easter's Thunderball saw entertainment from a wheelie car, fun fair rides, the fearless Vander Brothers who stunned audiences with their sky high Space Wheel balancing act and also not forgetting Titan the Robot who freely roamed amongst the crowd astounding the children. A Name worth mentioning is Sam Young and team who set a new World Record with their electric VW Beetle, where they hit 135.65mph in just 9.513 seconds making it the worlds fastest electric car, congratulations guys! If your idea of fun is watching high-octane drag racing, then this is the place for you, you won't even have to wait much longer for the next meet as the first round of the FIA EUM Main Event Championships will be taking place on May 27th - 30th over the bank holiday weekend. Check out some of the action below from what proved to be a very exciting weekend!
