Girls On Grid Nottingham 2023

Nottingham invites you to our first Girls On Grid Of The Year!

2023-02-23

As a currently very male-dominated sport, over the last few years, Motorsport as a whole has been making increasing efforts to improve female interest in the sport. For example, in 2019 the W series was launched: an all-female single-seater racing championship and F1 is set to launch an all-female driver category, the ‘F1 Academy’ this year. We have recently seen a rise in the number of female race drivers with Jamie Chadwick from the UK winning the last 3 W series.

At TeamSport we are working on increasing female drivers across the country through our Girls On Grid events. Our aim is to have a Girls on Grid event once a month at a number of tracks in which all women and girls have a safe space to go karting. This monthly session is aimed at all females regardless of age and ability. We hope to improve the confidence of those that are nervous and create an all-female racing community.

These events typically run from 6-9pm during which attendees can partake in multiple races, network with a like-minded community, hear from guest speakers such as ‘The Naked Warrior’ and take part in some fun games and activities.

Our Girls on Grid motto is ‘run by women for women’ so we aim to have female input as much as possible. One way we do this is by making sure any sponsors or prize donations we receive are from female-led businesses. This is a great way to get more females involved with TeamSport whilst also raising awareness for local female-led businesses.

Our next Girls on Grid event will be taking place in Nottingham on 8th March. This is especially significant because it is International Women’s Day and here at TeamSport, we wouldn’t want to spend that day in any other way!

We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible…

Get involved and book your space!
