You may not be ready to swap your helmet for a Santa hat just yet, but like it or not, Christmas is coming and it needs a bit of planning.
So, to the nitty gritty: The Christmas Party.
Big or small, anticipated or dreaded, posh or causal, you can’t deny that a Christmas party is the perfect way for the boss to say ‘great year guys, have a blast on us.’ If the thought of donning your glad-rags and partying to the small hours fills you with dread then I am here to offer you a few little alternatives that will make your Christmas Party a true cracker.
Murder Mystery Nights
I feel I should warn you that at these shin-digs you are not actually allowed to murder anyone, so this is not an opportunity to do away with an annoying colleague. It is however enjoyable for a number of reasons; you all get to eat, drink and be merry whilst trying your darndest to find out: Who dunnit?
Tribute Nights
Ok so I am sure you have all been to some naff tribute nights where you have thought quite frankly you could do a better job, but if you get a good one, then a night boogying away to tunes that you know and love can be beyond fun. Normally in a purpose-built, plush marquee in the grounds of some exclusive mansion, these nights are planned on your behalf so the key ingredients like food, drink and music are all sorted.
Wine and dine
You can’t beat good food and drink with friends, so if your colleagues are not of the dancing persuasion then a good old sit-down meal with copious amounts of food and pudding could tick all the boxes. Get a list of your local eateries and chat through their Christmas offerings. A lot of restaurants are offering deals if you book early and you might even be able to wangle a free tasting session.
Dressing up
Getting glammed-up is normally something for the ladies to enjoy, but actually putting on a tux and acting like you know which fork to use for your starter is quite enlightening. Get onto your local stately home and see what ‘dos’ they are planning this season – you might be surprised by the room rates they are offering and the price per head.
Get track-festive
Not surprisingly this is my favourite option.
