Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart Swap Racing Seats

Mobil 1 Spectator Event Shows Lewis Hamilton a Great Time

16 June 2011

It wasn’t too long ago that we saw Jenson Button participate in a seat swap at the Bathurst circuit in Australia, a track normally reserved for V-8 powered supercars.

Jenson was the first to ever race an F1 car around the circuit and proceeded to swap racing seats with Craig Lowndes and the pair took it in turns to race each other’s cars. This momentous occasion was probably the catalyst behind the next McLaren involved event which has Lewis Hamilton swapping seats with 2 times NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Tony Stewart. The Event was held at Watkins Glen, a famous road track in New York and one of only a few road tracks in the NASCAR championship. The track is iconic in nature and holds a few roots in F1 history after having the likes of Sirling Moss race around the track back in his hay-day. The two drivers took it in turns to race their respective series’ cars around the track to show all those dedicated spectators who put up with the rainy conditions and cold weather to watch this spectacular event. Lewis and Tony then swapped vehicles and pushed them to their limits having an absolute blast. It looked like they both had great fun in two very different racing machines even though the weather was a bit wet.
