Jenson Button will most likely be staying with McLaren

New talks of a contract between Jenson Button and McLaren

20 June 2011

The 31-year-old Englishman looks set to be offered an extension to his contract to keep him with the Woking based Formula 1 team.

Great news for all the McLaren and Button fans out there, it’s been an interesting few years so far and I think he’s just starting to get comfortable with the car and engineers to be able to start becoming a more competitive force. The 2009 World Drivers’ Champion has talked about how he would be happy racing the rest of his career with McLaren but up until now it wasn’t too clear what was happening with his contract. McLaren have had Button on an option contract to stay with the team which would mean they wouldn’t release him to another team before the contract is up unless they renew it and keep him on. Button’s win in Canada has spurred new hopes about McLaren’s presence in this seasons Championship and we can all hope to expect more from him and teammate Lewis Hamilton in the coming races. Maybe Red Bull have finally got something to worry about!
