Goodwood Festival of Speed

Over 50 F1 cars at Goodwood F.O.S

30 June 2011

This weekend thousands of motor sport fans will descend on West Sussex for the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed which begins today and ends on sunday. Each year brings a new theme to the festival and this time around the organisers have chosen 'Racing Revolutions - Quantum leaps that shaped Motor Sport' which celebrates various innovations. The Festival of Speed has been ongoing since 1993 and is one of the most established leading car shows in the world which attracts some of the best drivers and manufacturers around. This year doesn't seem any different with some big names making an appearance at the Goodwood event debuting electric-fuelled sports cars. Just to name a few, you can expect to see Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg of the current Formula 1 teams amongst all the action alongside a string of classic Formula 1 cars. This festival is brilliant because it allows you to get up close and personal in the Supercar Paddock with some of the most exhilarating cars around such as the McLaren MP4/1,the Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 and the Ferrari FF which is making it's first UK debut here! Other highlights worth checking out includes the reigning IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti who will be driving the Lotus-Ford 38 that Jim Clark drove to victory in 1965. There will be plenty going on for kids too with a screening of the original Disney Pixar Cars movie and life-sized character vehicles from the second instalment movie on display. In addition to all of this there is a further array of supercars, motorcycles and rally cars to see. But if you fancy watching everything at once, Honda has brought a 24-pod ferris wheel that will be ongoing throughout the festival. Sadly I wont be attending this year (shameful on my part) but if you are going it would be great to see some of your snaps so feel free to send any photos/videos my way or post them to my Facebook page.
