EKL: The Story So Far

The Elite Karting League

16 July 2012

I thought I'd take advantage of this latest blog post to make sure you guys are aware of what is, one of the best things in the karting world! What's that, you ask? The Elite Karting League (EKL),I tell you!

The EKL is the UK's first national karting league which involves drivers from across the country representing their home towns and cities in six races throughout 2012. There is a maximum of 40 teams, each with four drivers who will take part in the races which include sprints and endurance tests. One of the best bits is the 'dash for cash' which takes place at the end of the day's racing and its where you get the opportunity to win back your entry fee - how generous is that! Then there is the prize, which is proportional to the number of entry fees and can be up to a whopping £1,000! And guess what! TeamSport have two teams in the league and have done exceptionally well in the first two races of the year. TeamSport Titan who is (Andy O'Neil, Owen Jenman, Damian Hickman, Jack O'Neil) won the first round at Bayford Meadows and in the second round at Ellough Park, Andy O'Neil earned third overall in the individual rankings and became the highest placed TeamSport driver. Owen Jenman was the nominated driver for the Race of Champions and put the kart on pole position and led the race from start to finish! The TeamSport customer team, The Tornadoes, (Shayne Cuthbert, Matt Dorrington, Jon Row, Keith Robertson) also had a great day at Ellough Park. Matt Dorrington started second and then Ed White took over to finish second in the endurance race. The next EKL race is on Sunday 22 July 2012 at Clay Pigeon Raceway, in Dorset - spectating is highly recommended! Best of luck guys, I'm sure you'll do TeamSport proud yet again!
