Daniel Ricciardo set to make F1 Debut at British GP

Ricciardo will replace Karthikeyan at Silverstone

1 July 2011

It's been confirmed that the Red Bull reserve driver Daniel Ricciardo will be making his F1 debut at the British Grand Prix for Hispania Racing Team as a replacement for Narain Karthikeyan.

Ricciardo has had an impressive year so far and has taken part in 8 Grand Prix Friday morning practise sessions and as a result Toro Rosso has promoted him to a race seat alongside Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, by the sounds of things he will be there for the remainder of the season. Although HRT have yet to officially confirm the story, a delighted Ricciardo has said

It's a dream come true for me - the first time on an F1 starting grid. I had to pinch myself a couple of times to be sure that it's real. Now I'm excited and can hardly wait to drive at Silverstone.

Well done to Ricciardo, it's always exciting to see a new face in the sport and it is a great opportunity for him to gain experience and although the HRT is a slower team the new partnership with Red Bull could work out well in his favour.
