Lewis Hamilton has reportedly left McLaren for Mercedes. I for one can't quite believe it despite the rumours that have been floating around; this is primarily because Hamilton has been reared by McLaren since the age of 13 - what a massive blow for them. Michael Schumacher will also be licking his wounds this morning because the signing will mean he is forced out of Mercedes as Lewis will be partnered with Nico Rosberg. Mercedes however are clearly ecstatic and very excited about the future. Team principal, Ross Brawn, told the BBC:
I believe that the combination of Lewis and Nico will be the most dynamic and exciting pairing on the grid next year and I am looking forward to what we can achieve together
The question I'd love answered is: did Hamilton move for the money or the opportunity? I suspect the poor season he has had with McLaren features heavily in the decision and therefore it was the opportunity, but surely the bigger salary must have been a temptation! Who knows, maybe he's a wise guy and realises money isn't the key to happiness. What a day for F1! I wish you all the best Lewis and I can't wait to see how the impact of your move manifests itself.
