Pastor Maldonado sails through feature race again
The Venezuelan crushed his competition to take his third consecutive feature race win at Silverstone. He took the lead after jumping Bianchi in pole position and from then on it seemed to be a breeze, will anyone prove to be a challenge to this guy?
Maldonado finished the race a clear 10.1 seconds ahead of his closest rival Bianchi who in turn was ahead of his closest competitor by 9.4 seconds. Other than that it was a rather uneventful race, considering the last race in Valencia had crashes and other unfortunate incidents.
Pastor now increases his lead in the Championship moving to 56 points with Clos behind him on 37 and Bianchi on 31.
The Sprint Race
Continuing with the theme of dominating victories, Sergio Perez flew past the chequered flag in Silverstone’s GP2 sprint race from a second place grid start race with Oliver Turvey holding on to second position. This made for Turvey’s first main series podium position and the crowd’s only local hope after Sam Bird couldn’t participate due to an engine failure during an installation lap.
The results from this race throw Perez back into contention with the leaders of the Championship; he is now joining Clos and Bianchi in chasing down Championship leader Maldonado.
A rather exciting racing weekend has left me wanting more, I don’t know about you but I’d head on down to Team-Sport and get in some thrilling Karting.
