TeamSport partner up with Virgin Racing Formula E Team

2014-11-14

Over the past few years electric cars have increased in popularity and we are now starting to see more and more on the roads. Motorsport’s governing body, the FIA, has encouraged this growth by starting a new championship this year – Formula E.

Formula E is an electric single-seater championship with 10 teams & 20 drivers, competing in some of the world’s top cities, including London. Like the FIA, we’re always looking to the future at TeamSport and we’ve adopted the electric technology at both our Tower Bridge and West London tracks. Did you know, they have been proven to be a whole second faster than our 200cc petrol karts? As we are fully behind the FIA Formula E Championship, and can’t wait to see the season pan out, it only felt right to partner up with one of the top teams, Virgin Racing.  The Virgin Racing drivers - Sam Bird and Jaime Alguersuari joined us at TeamSport Tower Bridge last week to try out our electric karts and cement our new partnership. http://youtu.be/-E5rBVNsNLE The Virgin Racing team is headed up by Team Principal Alex Tai, who has been directly involved in some of Virgin’s pioneering technology adventures in the past, and their two drivers – Sam Bird and Jaime Alguersuari, who have previously been involved in F1. As you can imagine, the FIA Formula E Championship is slightly different to the usual F1 series, such as different top speeds, rule variations, car swapping pit stops and fan boosts – which is where you can get involved to support your favourite drivers. You can find out more about the differences between F1 and Formula E, by visiting our blog that compares the two. We are incredibly excited to be partnering up with Virgin Racing and we can’t wait to see the TeamSport logo on TV during the Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend.
